“I have already recommended Box Sash to friends. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding. I always like to tell people when something has gone well, and this installation went really, really well.”
When Patricia saw the difference bespoke sash windows had made to her neighbours’ home over the road, she decided it was time to get her own original windows replaced.
With its original sash windows still in place, Patricia’s house in East Putney was cold in winter, draughty all year round, and – being situated directly below a flight path – subject to high levels of noise pollution.
“The original sash windows really needed replacing. At the very least, they needed to be reglazed: there were actual holes in some of the panes.
“With the other windows, there was a variety of issues: some of the cords had snapped, and things just didn’t work well. The house was cold in the winter, and really noisy.”
Patricia’s neighbours across the road had had their two front windows replaced by Box Sash, and they were delighted with the results. They recommended the company to Patricia, who got in touch for a free design visit.
Asked why she chose Box Sash over a competitor company, Patricia said:
“I got a couple of quotes, but Box Sash seemed really good. I liked the work they’d done for my neighbours – two sets of front windows, upstairs and down – and they felt like the right choice.”
Box Sash’s thorough, careful approach appealed to Patricia. Before the installation began, an expert surveyor attended her home on a mutually agreed date, and spent the day taking precision measurements for her bespoke sash windows.
The windows were crafted at Box Sash’s specialist facility in Wales. Once production was complete, the company contacted Patricia once more to arrange a convenient time for installation.
As with all Box Sash projects, disruption to Patricia’s home was kept to a minimum, with one of the company’s trusted team members visiting each day.
“It was one man, actually, who came and did the whole project. The same installer would come every day with the materials he needed – he’d fit them, tidy up, then come back the next day. It took less than a week.”
Patricia commented on the difference new, double glazed sash windows have made to her mid-terrace, London home:
“I had all the windows replaced, front and back, and it’s made a big difference to my home. It’s so much quieter: despite the fact that we’re under one of the flight paths from Heathrow, you can hardly hear the planes when the windows are closed.
“It’s also warmer in the house now. Energy efficiency was a big impetus for us – and besides everything else, the new windows just look so good.”
And would Patricia recommend Box Sash to other homeowners looking to replace their traditional timber windows?
“I already have. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding. I always like to tell people when something has gone well, and this installation went really, really well.”
