About the Box Sash Windows Co.
Fitted inside the room as close to the window as your particular needs dictate, and
the construction of the window permits, it leaves the existing primary glazing wholly intact.
Secondary glazing can be the ideal, effective solution to many special or demanding
insulation requirements.
Being as discreet in a Listed Building as in a modern property, Secondary Glazing from
the Original Box Sash Window Company is neat, compact and reassuringly easy to operate.
Our Secondary Glazing is produced in white, slim aluminium for maintenance-free, long life.

What’s the purpose of secondary glazing ?
To reduce severe noise from outside entering the house through the windows.
Secondary glazing provides a clear glass skin inside your existing primary
window. As it is fixed independently to the primary window, it can be
located to provide a still air-gap much thicker than sealed unit
double-glazing.
Does it look obtrusive ?
No necessarily so.
Is it easy to open and clean ?
Yes.
What types are available ?
There are vertical and horizontal sliders, hinged and lift-out units available. Our surveyor can advise. CLICK HERE.
Is it effective ?
Very. Thewider the air-gap, the greater the reduction in
noise from the outside which can penetrate the house. Secondary glazing creates this wide air gap.
Will it maintain the value of my house ?
Yes, but not as much as full replacement works.
Can I have secondary glazing everywhere ?
It is not practical inside doors, or inside bay windows.
How long will it take to fit ?
The surveyor can give you an approximation. Every house, every window/door is different. CLICK HERE.
What colours are available ?
White, slim unobtrusive, it blends in with most paintwork Curtains normally cover the sides.
What about safety/security ?
It is another barrier for a prospective intruder to surmount. If a window is in a potentially dangerous location
for personal security, safety glass is used.
What about my primary (existing) windows ?
Really, these should be draught-proofed at the same time, because “leaky” frames will largely dilute the
effectiveness of the secondary glazing.
