 |
| The Original Box Sash Windows Company - A brief History |
|
Formed in 1980, the company brought together over 100
years of experience in the
replacement window marketplace.
|
 |
| In 1987 the company built a bespoke production facility
in Merthyr Tydfil to cope with our expanding
workload as our reputation spread. |
 |
| For your peace of mind, we have done everything possible
over the years to build the foundation for
ensuring a first class product is efficiently supplied and installed to
the customers' individual requirements. |
 |
Day to day, this foundation is in the hands of our highly
trained staff and management.
We employ therefore the best possible people that are available, and give
them a financial incentive to
ensure that you are comfortable throughout and completely satisfied with
the result, and then provide you
with ongoing after sales service. |
 |
| Whether you purchase £500 or £50,000 worth
of work, it affects your life's major financial asset -
your property - and you should always insist upon:- |
 |
- A written quotation and specification before buying, with a control sample if required.
- Only home environmentally friendly materials being
used.
- Hardwoods mandatory.
- Absolutely no chemical preservatives whatsoever
in your home.
- Warranted installers.
- British Standards Total Quality Assurance.
|
| In addition to the above you will now require a Building
Control Approval Certificate upon completion of your job. As a FENSA approved
manufacturer and installer of timber sash windows, casements and doors, this will be handled for you - see below. |

BS Kitemark |
| The Kitemark is internationally recognised
symbol that signifies that the
product carrying it meets the relevant standards of quality and
safety. |
 |
Below the Kitemark
there should be two numbers, There is BS 644,
which is the British Standard for Box Sash Windows. There is also
a five digit number preceded by KM, which British Standards has given
to The Original Box Sash Window Company as a holder of BS 644. |

 |
| Total Quality
Management - ISO9002 |
 |
| Companies that meet defined standards
in all aspects of their operations are awarded ISO 9002 status.
These companies are regularly assessed to ensure that standards
are also maintained. |
 |
| The BSI Registered Firm mark -
which is shown to the right - is your guarantee of receiving quality
standards in all aspects of your supplier's products and work. |
|
 |
| FENSA |
| Replacement sash windows, casements and doors are now
required to meet improved insulation standards and a certificate
must be issued by building control officers for every installation. |
 |
| As there are up to 1.2 million installations
per year, it would be an impossible task for building control officers
to check all installations. The FENSA scheme allows the hard-stretched officers to concentrate on new building
work, whilst ensuring that installations comply with regulations.
|
| A self-certifying scheme known as FENSA
(Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme) for approved companies is
designed to relieve the otherwise massive pressure on the resources
of Building Control Departments. |
| As a FENSA approved installer, we certificate
your installation of timber sash windows, casements and doors - now required as part of your Home Information Pack, when selling your property. |
| This removes the need for you to produce
drawings for approval, and subsequently to be inspected for compliance
by your local building control officers with the the associated
costs levied by your local Council. |
